World Youth Day 2027 will bring young Catholics from around the world together in Seoul, South Korea, for an unforgettable celebration of faith, hope, and unity. From August 3–8, pilgrims will gather for prayer, Mass, catechesis, cultural events, fellowship, and a special vigil with the Holy Father.
Guided by the theme, “Take courage! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33), WYD Seoul 2027 invites young people to encounter Christ, experience the universal Church, and return home renewed in their faith. More than an international event, World Youth Day is a pilgrimage—a chance to step away from everyday life, build lasting friendships, and discover how God is calling each of us to live with greater courage, joy, and purpose.
Official Prayer for World Youth Day Seoul 2027
Loving Lord of all young people,
we thank you for inviting us into your infinite love and mercy.
Our Father, we entrust ourselves to you.
May young people everywhere be comforted in the embrace of your Church,
and come to share deeply in the joy of communion and unity.
Lord Jesus Christ, you overcome the world, both now and forever.
May all people discover the hope that lies in your call to take courage,
realizing that the cross of love and forgiveness is the true victory over the world.
O Holy Spirit, Flame of Love,
by your wondrous hand
you have sown the seeds of faith in Korea.
Kindle the flame of the Korean martyrs’ faith in our hearts,
making us into disciples who live out the gospel of peace, love, and truth.
Lord, we pray that through this pilgrim journey of World Youth Day
we may listen to each other, discern your will,
and become a synodal Church, walking together with all of God’s people. Amen.

A WYD for the World
What unites World Youth Day participants is the longing to reconnect with the universal values that bind humanity, to share those values across the globe, and to nurture hope for what lies ahead. Past World Youth Days have consistently emphasized care for the environment and the restoration of the order of creation.
Pope Francis, in his encyclical Laudato Si’ , published on May 24, 2015, emphasized the practical duty and ecological responsibility that humanity has toward environmental protection. He urged Christians to regard the earth as our “common home” and practice small ways to protect it in their daily lives.
Following this tradition, the WYD Seoul 2027 LOC is promoting tree planting to embody the value of love for ecology, one of the supporting themes of this WYD.
This campaign is being carried out in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Korea Forest Service and invites young people in Seoul and around the world, who shoulder the future of our common home, to join in this task. Participants can plant trees, experience the value of nature, and gain a foundation for developing sustainable and eco-friendly habits.
